Rise early and with your morning coffee, report to the park headquarters by 7:00am for registration and the day’s briefing on your awaiting gorilla trekking adventure. You will be equipped with all the necessary information about the primates before hiking into the thick water logged forest to find them.
You have the option to take a backpack porter who will carry your backpack and help you along the way. We also recommend walking sticks to assist you through the thick water logged forest. The time spent hiking, depends on how deep the gorilla family has moved into the woods in search for food, water and settlement. Once you find the gorillas, enjoy at least one hour interacting with them as they eat, play and tease each other. You are welcome to take many photographs and videos.
As you approach the Gorillas avoid making noise or doing anything that may scare them away. Our expert guides will be there to give you more specific advice, but in general, we recommend that observers stay relatively still and quiet, maintain a distance of 7 meters away from the animals, avoid direct eye contact and use cameras without the flash mode enabled. After spending time observing the Gorillas you will hike back to the starting point and return by vehicle to your accommodation.
In the afternoon there is a special cultural excursion to the Batwa community – a local tribe that settles around the Bwindi forest. While interacting with the local people you’ll learn all about the tribe’s rich history and how they are currently living in harmony with the outside world.
