On the second day you will see the mountain gorillas. After breakfast you will be be driven to the Bwindi Park headquarters, where you will receive a briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. Together with your group, tracking gear, packed lunch and porter for the backpack (if you want one), you will move into the forests to search for the endangered primates. The search may take as little as 30 minutes or up to several hours, depending on how deep your gorilla family has moved into the forest in search of water, food and shelter. Once you find the gorillas, enjoy one hour interacting with them; as they eat, play and tease each other. After taking as many videos and photos as you like, you will make the return hike to your starting point.
In the afternoon, following your return hike to the starting point, there is a special cultural excursion to the Batwa community – a local tribe that settles around the Bwindi forest. While interacting with the local people you’ll learn about the tribe’s rich history and how they are currently living in harmony with the outside world.
