8 DAYS GORILLA SAFARI UGANDA

DAY 1

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel to start a transfer to the beautiful Murchison Falls National Park. This is Uganda’s largest park in the Masindi district. Before you reach the park you will have a stopover at the Zziwa Rhinos Sanctuary, where you will meet the white and black rhinos. During the afternoon you continue driving to the top of the falls where you can enjoy the relaxing environment of the source of the nile river.

DAY 2

After breakfast you will start your morning game drive. We’re aiming for the BIG 5: lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos and elephants. Except the big 5 you can see many other wildlife such as giraffes, jackals and hyenas. After some hours of driving you return to your lodge for a lunch, which will be followed by a cruise along the Nile River. In this place you’ll see many birds like the rare shoebill stork and the African Skimmer.

DAY 3

Today we’re travelling towards Kibale’s forest national park. This will take almost the whole day. After arriving you have the option to go for a walk around the nearby villages. During this walk you will visit the crater lakes and enjoy the wonderful views from above.

DAY 4

Today you’re going for chimpanzee trekking! After breakfast you’re heading towards the Kanyanchu Park for a short briefing about the do’s and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. Afterwards you’re ready for a hike towards the apes. Keep your eyes open during this walk since you can see many more primates, like blue monkeys and the colobus monkey. After you found the monkeys you’re able to interact and observe them for one hour. When you’ve taken as many pictures as possible it’s time to return to the starting point. In the afternoon you enjoy your lunch during a walk towards the Bigodi swamp sanctuary – a bird’s haven with many different species.

DAY 5

Today is your transfer towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. During this drive we will visit the tree climbing lions. Afterwards you can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the road. You face tea and banana plantations and the rolling hills of the country side. Just in time for lunch, you will reach the national park. Afterwards you can go on a cruise along the Kazinga channel, where you will see many different bird species. Besides birds there is a possibility of spotting hippos, crocodiles and buffalos.

DAY 6

Today we start early for a morning game drive through the Kasenyi trail. We’re going to try to catch a glimpse of the early risers as they head out for their hunts. You can see many animals like lions, jackals and hippos. After some hours of driving you will have lunch and continue with your drive towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

DAY 7

Today is your gorilla trekking day! After a short briefing at the entrance of Bwindi’s forest you’re ready for your search to the gorilla’s. This walk might take between 1 and 8 hours depending on how deep the gorillas have moved into the forest. Once you find the gorillas you enjoy an hour interacting with them; as they eat, play and tease each other. When you took as many pictures as possible it’s time to return to your starting point.

After lunch you’re heading for a walk towards the Batwa community – a local tribe that is settled around the Bwindi forest.

DAY 8

After breakfast it’s time to return to Kampala.
